Oh I loved reading Lord of the Flies, although it probably helped that kid in my class was nicknamed Piggy (like that was his legitimate nickname not a bully name behind his back or anything) and to 10th graders then reading about Piggy was the most entertaining thing ever. I’ve not read an Anne Frank novel, but have seen a couple of movies of her life, and wow! So much tragedy and sorrow. The things she had to go through are, for us, unimaginable.

I’ve read several of these: Golding, Bradbury, Frank, and Rowling (mais en anglais, naturellement). My TTT lists sci-fi cats to read about instead of doing homework.
